Someday

Someday the pitter patter of your little footsteps will no longer be the sound that wakes me.

The kitchen utensils will remain in the kitchen drawer instead of playing a role in your imaginative play schemes.

The trail of dried play dough crumbs will no longer fill the floors and instead of the rug being covered in puzzles, and trucks, and legos, it will be neat and tidy and empty.

The piles of laundry will slowly dwindle.

Where artwork once filled the fridge will now appear bare.

And in those moments my heart will wish to have those things back.

The things that seemingly drove me crazy at times will now be the things I profoundly miss the most.

Life is all about perspective and sometimes if you change your perspective, you’ll soon realize that the things you once thought of as nuisances were truly some of the most magical parts of motherhood.
